Author's Note: So, I think all this rain we've been having here in Florida has flooded my brain. All day long I had this idea, and all I could see of it was the smell of rain, and Mike Smith standing in the rain, getting all soaked. This is super short drabble. Why are they standing outside in the rain? Don't know. Go with it.

Author's Note: The Chicago bit was inspired by nothing more than my imagination.
The Ontario bit was inspired by the news that Steven Stamkos suffered through the final month of the regular season with a shoulder injury. He recently had an MRI, and it revealed that he didn't need surgery (thank God and the hockey gods). But for the sake of this story, we're going to pretend that he did.
And the Tampa bit was inspired by a number of pictures that Nate Thompson tweeted of himself fishing. Here's one of them. You must see it. No, really. Click. and And click...

Title: Everyone has a secret, oh but can they keep it?
Pairing: Ryan Malone/Mike Smith
Rating: R-ish
Summery: Infatuation is a tricky thing....
Author's Note: Set in 2007 when Ryan Malone still played for the Penguins and Mike Smith was a goalie for the Dallas Stars. The premise is these two have not met before and don't know anything about each other. I have had this idea of a pre-Lightning days Smith/Malone rattling around in my head for awhile, but kind of put it on the back burner until it solidified or something inspired me. Well, this afternoon a song on my iPod inspired me. I discussed my idea with xornej  and she had some wonderful ideas of her own, and we toyed with the idea of tag team writing this story, hopefully she plays along.*grin* 
Ryan Malone's thoughts are in italics, song lyrics are in bold.
The part about Mike Smith living with Marty Turco (who was also a goalie for the Stars at that time) and his family for a brief time is actually true. Title and Lyrics taken from the song "Secret" by Maroon 5.
