Author's Note: Set in 2007 when Ryan Malone still played for the Penguins and Mike Smith was a goalie for the Dallas Stars. The premise is these two have not met before and don't know anything about each other. I have had this idea of a pre-Lightning days Smith/Malone rattling around in my head for awhile, but kind of put it on the back burner until it solidified or something inspired me. Well, this afternoon a song on my iPod inspired me. I discussed my idea with xornej and she had some wonderful ideas of her own, and we toyed with the idea of tag team writing this story, hopefully she plays along.*grin*
