Hey guys! Just wanted to let you know that I've updated the community rules after like ten years and I'm currently cleaning up the tags. We will no longer require author tags, just player, team, rating and a media tag if possible (media: podfic, media: fanmix, and media: fanvid).

I'm debating updating the rules to include a list of banned players (those who have been arrested for/accused of sexual assault and domestic violence). I'm also considering a ban on content that includes real-life tragic events like 9/11, concentration camp AUs, natural disasters like the Haiti earthquake and Indian Ocean tsunami, and real-life tragedies involving players (I have specific fics in mind). Would any community members care to weigh in?

We've been getting some new members recently. This community isn't active at the moment. However, that could change if enough people join up and are interested in using the community for something. We have an obsessively organized tags section but be forewarned that you'll probably run into quite a few dead links.

Welcome!

I just went through and cleared out a whole bunch of tags that were cluttering up the tags list. For various reasons, but almost all of them were for misspelled words/typos. So if I could please ask that you actually look through the tag list when you go to tag your fic, rather than entering in your own -- unless you've verified that the tag you want to use doesn't already exist -- I would really appreciate it. It's time-consuming on my part to go through and remove redundant tags.

I'd like to keep the tagging simple, so some guidelines:

  • rating (g, pg, pg-13, r, nc-17 -- this is how they are established in the tags)
  • your name (so if that's not listed, feel free to add it)
  • the team(s) (full team names, starting with the city, rather than nick names; these should all be listed already, at least for the NHL)
  • players (full names, and no person a/person b tags, please!!)

This will hopefully save the tags list from filling up too quickly again, and then I won't have to spend an hour clearing it out again. :-) Keep in mind, we only have 1000 tags to work with, and while that may seem like a lot, when you think about how many different people write how many different players, our tags list gets quite the workout! In case you're curious, here is a complete list of all our tags currently in use.

Thanks everyone... if there's any problems or questions about this, please let me know!

One more thing: I'm heavily leaning toward making this comm where all the posts are, by default, friends-only. This is mostly due to a lot of "outing" of fic going on outside our insular little communities, and some other smaller issues. I'm mostly curious about people's opinions at the moment, so let me know what you all think about that, please?

Just a little nudge from your friendly mods -- non-fic posts must be run by the mods, or they will be deleted. Community promos, same deal. Please, if you haven't, take a quick look at the user info, where all the rules are posted. There aren't a lot of them, we like to keep things loose and easy around here. ;) But yeah, no posting of non-fic-related items without asking, 'k? If we, mods of the busy lives, miss something you think is questionable (hey, it happens!), come bug one of us and we'll take a look. Thanks!

Hey -- so yeah, even before the question came up, we were working on a way to make stories more easy to access, without having to rely on the memories system, which as most of us know, doesn't work much more often than it does.

Myself, [livejournal.com profile] arami (other mod), and with the generous help of [livejournal.com profile] zdarovyeh, are going to be implementing the use of tags to make all of this easier. We will be adding tags for teams, players, and possibly other categories (authors, ratings). Give us a few days to start to get things in place to make this work, and then everyone in the community should have the ability to add/edit tags for posts, if the author didn't use them. We would love it if authors would, but understand that not everyone does/will, so having others have the capability to set them up will make life easier all around.

We do apologize for this taking so long to get around to doing, but real life got crazy, especially at the end of the season. But hey, summer project! We like those.

Also, we've changed the user info around, so everyone please take a look and let us know if we left out anything important.

Any comments, suggestions, what have you... let us have 'em!

~~ the mods.
