title: Smiling Lies Miles Away
involves: Marc-Andre Fleury/Ty Conklin
rating: PG-13 for language
disclaimer: Any resemblance to real life is, as always, purely, and sadly, coincidental.
notes: Arrrgh. Short, sappy, simile'd, shameless, and sucks but is now illustrated so I'm pleading self-defense. Enjoy. (Icon is the work of the even lovelier [livejournal.com profile] nofaves. Je t'embrasse!)
summary: MAF's not smiling atm. Stupid Detroit.

Like the glow of the moon.....but, no.

Warmer, closer, more personal. Like a lantern. If you put it in a lighthouse, you can see it even if there's a cold stretch of water in between and nowhere close to land. A lantern at the edge of the path, it tells me don't worry -- I'm moving in the right direction, I won't get lost. If you're camping way off the usual path it could be the only light... The best kind, of course, is the one lit by striking a match. The one where you play with the flame and feel the heat of it. But when you have one candle, that light is the most beautiful thing you can see, and anything illuminated by it looks new, and different, and special. And in a very dark room you will stare, and be transfixed, and unable to look away from the only thing in your eyes.

Ty.

Il y a une lumière proche de mon lit et je n'vois que toi.
Come back and smile at me so I can stop making fucking stupid comparisons to it en tabarnak.

I want you with me when the lights go out.

Partout où que je suis... je t'y veux.

Wherever I am, I want you there.

-------@`----'---@----,--------@-'-------@--;-----'-----@-----

okay, further notes!:
Il y a une....("There's a light near my bed and all I see is you.")

The other bit of French is even worse, grammatically speaking, but done as such for obvious reasons. ;P

This was written mostly due to writer's block and Ty being a jerk and smiling like this

for everybody who managed to get to a bunch of recent events in Detroit, and with a little assistance from Tracy Chapman's "The Promise" (sap warning).

Theoretically this could be taken as a companion piece to "Sunday Night And It's Half-Past Eleven", but I was less ashamed of posting that than this...but he MADE me do it. XD

Cette histoire, c'est touchante. Comme Fleur veut toucher Ty.

Mais Fleur sans un sourire ? Je n'aime pas l'imaginer.
