Someone who was never drafted and someone who was the first pick in one of the best drafts in years.

Someone who's a franchise goalie and someone who was basically a punchline.

Someone who played in the NHL at 18 and someone who wasn't signed by an NHL team before turning 25.

Someone who graduated from four years of college and someone who never even came close to enrolling.

Someone who's married with an ever-growing family and someone who's had a girlfriend for longer than that.

Someone who's Canadian and someone who's American.

Someone who's getting $35 million over the next seven years and someone who'll be lucky with four or five contracts over that time and not six or seven different places.

Someone whose playoffs had three shutouts on the way to the Final and someone whose playoffs are six minutes of infamy.

Someone who didn't speak English till they were 16 that's still better than someone's French.

Someone who grew up on one coast and someone who grew up practically a continent away.

Someone who went to play in Communist Russia while someone was still a toddler.

Someone who could make it to the Hall of Fame and someone who will be a historical footnote, somewhere.

We know pain, we know embarrassment, and we know coming up short.

But how is it I look at you and feel like you understand everything?
