Title:  Can Best Friends Be More?
Pairing: Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.
Team: Anaheim Ducks.
Rating: PG-13
Corey's POV.
A/N: For my friend, who has no idea I've even written this. :{D

I followed him out to his car and waited for him to unlock it. We'd taken his blue hummer over here after he'd picked me up. His elbow pressed into the window as he dug for his keys.

"I...uh...I think I left...I think I left my keys in my locker."

"Alright. Do you want me to come and search with you? I'm sure they're just in your locker though."

"You can stay here if you want. It would be....well yeah of course you can come."

He winked his iridescencent eyes right at mine. I fought to catch my breath as they penetrated through me.

 "Ok. Let's..uhh.."

"You alright Corey?

"Oh yeah. Never better." I tried to smile without any further suspicion, yet, he knew something was up. I saw it cross his face.

"If you say. Let's go find my keys then eh?"

As we made our way back into Honda Center, the dark seemed to consume us, even though the lights burned brighter in front of us. The locker room door opened and out walked our backup goalie, Jonas Hiller.
"Hey guys."
You had to admit, that guy was cute.

"Hey man." Ryan and I responded at the same time. "We're coming back in to look for Ryan's keys." I finished up for him, turning before he could look at me.

"Alright. Hope you guys find them."

"Hey wait!" Ryan shouted after him. "Is there anyone else in there?"

"Nope."

"Thanks."

I kept my head facing down as Ryan held the door open. I walked straight to his locker and upon seeing it was clearly empty....
I felt him behind me, foot steps quiet as a mouse, moving closer. I tried not to tense up as I twisted my body at the precise moment he bordered mine.

My lips quievered ever so slightly as he took a step back.

"Sorry!" He blurted out. "I...just I..."

"DD-Don't worry about it." I shut my eyes and turned my head away. "D-D-D-it's quiet al...-right."

"Oh. Ok."

He turned his head to the lockers behind him. I knew how much he hated awkward moments. Forces beyond my control pushed my legs beneath me, my equilibrium failing me, my feet tripping over themselves. Ryan caught me and plucked me up. His arms, however warm the rest of him, were always cold. I'd never figured it out. Even after being his best friend all these years.

"Um, find your keys yet?" I chocked out, the warmth of his chest slipping through his shirt the more I held on. I couldn't hold it in much longer.

"Oh...well..uh. We should...um ya look some more."

He let me get my traction back and sprinted off. Wondering what I'd done, I ran after him. I couldn't see a sign of him anywhere, looking up just in time to glimpse the door to the rink shutting itself back to its closed postition.
.
Why was he going back onto the ice? I sighed and pushed open the door. A quick glance around the cold arena told me nothing. It was just...empty, deserted. Too noiseless for my taste. The lights flickered off right as I saw him. He stood there at center ice, head facing up at the announcers booth. A blue outline formed around him. He faced me now. Unnaturally, I stepped closer to him. My feet dragged me closer to the ice. A step closer to him.
.
The speakers crackled to life. Blasting Kanye. I'm not lovin' you, the way I wanted to. What I had to do, had run from you. My mouth slightly ajar, I observed him. He remained standing in the same position, he was waiting. Never know enough, 'till it's over love. 'Till we lose control, system overload.  I bit my lip cautiously making my way across the ice. Ryan took a step forward, palm in his pocket. I'd known his keys had been there all along.

The distance between us increased, the friction, powerfully overwhelming. It appeared as though the ice would melt below us. His face was as serious as stone when I stopped with two inches between us. My hands and my mind were fighting. Should I touch him? Should I stand here? As if he was dealing with the same internal conflict...our hands ended up touching each other. Both of us quickly pulling them back to ourselves.

My hands shook with anticipation. I bit down on my tongue as he let his eyes sift into me, making me go numb and my heart skip a few beats.

"Is this...is this what you want? Do you want this Corey?"

"Yes. I do want this. I want you! I want...us. I've wanted you all along."

My eyes compressed shut and my jaw locked as my clumsy head inclined up to his. The pressure of his lips on mine sent a shockwave of electricity burning through me. It went through my veins and pulsed like a radar. My tongue shot down his throat. I felt his heart convulse. His hands dug into my shoulders, his body writhing beside mine. I slowly hauled my tongue out and moved it around the inside of his mouth before letting go.

"Www-OW"

I grinned. He'd said that with more satisfaction than I'd ever imagined. His eyes twinkled off the dim arena lights. He seized my hand as we ran like school children through the huge arena. He tumbled over a chair, popped right back up continuing to persue me. Just then, he jumped out and pulled me beneath him. A smirk crossed my face. His eyes burned like a flame, I knew what he wanted. It's what I'd been wanting.

And here we were...alone.
