This is my first post here. Just a short little drabble that popped into my head the other night as I was trying to sleep. (Thanks for that Pasha :P)
Title: Why
Pairing: Pavel Datsyuk/Henrik Zetterberg
Fandom: Real Person Fic - Detroit Red Wings
Disclaimer: Owning people is bad...mmmkay. Also, I make no claims to what these two do in their free time. I have no knowledge of their personal private lives.
Summary: A look at Pavel's (Pasha's) internal musings on his relationship with Henrik (Hank)
Pavel is quiet. Part of this is due, of course, to the fact that after all the time he's spent in this country, his English still needs a lot of work, but even in Russia, he was quiet. He's a thinker. He'll speak when he has to, naturally. But he hates the post game pressers; his game should do the talking, he feels. He prefers to be seen and not heard; his actions speak for himself. On the ice, and in sports circles, he's noticed. But he loves the anonymity he gets when he pulls his cap low over his eyes and and just walks around the city. Pasha can blend, and he loves that. You'll catch the silly side of him occasionally, but more often, the serious shy side takes over.
Hank, on the other hand, is loud and boisterous. You hear Hank before you see him. Even in sleep, Hank in noisy. Pavel cannot count the nights he's come home to hear Henrik snoring on the sofa. Or been woken up by the bed shaking as Hank sneezes. In many ways, he seems the exact opposite of Pavel. Except on the ice, where the compliment each other perfectly. Henrik gets noticed. Noticed, but left alone. He is respected enough for that. Hank love to go out, loves to party, loves to have fun. Hank is always amped up, on and off the ice.
Hank had missed practice one day with the flu, and Nick had dared to finally ask the question that Pasha knew had been whispered through the locker room for months. "Why Henrik?" Nick had asked. Perhaps because it was Nick, and he knew Nick didn't mean anything by the question, wouldn't tease him or mock him, and more importantly, perhaps, because Nick would understand the answer, Pavel finally responded. "Because I fit." He said simply. Nick had simply smiled, nodded, and walked away.
And that was all there was to the answer. Pasha fit perfectly in Hank's arms, fit perfectly into his heart, fit into his life. And Hank fit perfectly into Pasha's.

As if they don't give us enough fodder by themselves. *snicker*
