Title: New Sensations
Chapter: 1/?  Am I really writing a mutlichapter fic?
Characters: Mike Richards/Danny Briere, Danny Briere/Marty Biron, hint of Mike Richards/Jeff Carter and if you want to see it Mike Richards/Joffrey Lupul (but not really)
Summary: The bus ride back to the Flyers Skate Center in New Jersey after the loss to Pittsburgh in the playoffs is a long and painful one and Mike finds himself drawn to Danny and Marty.
Rating: PG-13/teen for now but will go up in the next chapter for sure
Warnings: Angst.
Disclaimers: Not true - never happened though I can dream can't I?
Author's note:  More Flyers slash. I hope no one minds. I know they're not the most popular team but I'm from the Philly area and love them.  This came from my angst after watching the Flyers get pounded by the Penguins yesterday. Seeing Mike so sad at the  post-game news conference made me want to cry.  I started writing this with the intention of writing Mike/Danny (with a side of Danny/Marty) but it seems to be headed towards a threesome. WTF?

The bus trip back to New Jersey was horrible and Mike wanted it to be over as soon as it began.  No one was talking and the air was filled pain and disappointment. Worst than that, it seemed like he would be stuck on the bus forever. Mike took turns looking out the window at the dark, dismal highway and glancing at his watch. God, he thought, why are we not back in Jersey yet? Still, it wasn’t as if he was really looking forward to being back home. There would only be more reporters asking the same stupid questions that he would have to answer, oh so politely,  because that is what was expected of him.  He was the Captain-in-Waiting wasn't he? All Mike really wanted to do is to tell them to shut the fuck up. How did they think it felt to get pounded by Pittsburgh today? Tomorrow  they would  be cleaning out of their lockers and it pained Mike to even think about it. He wondered how many of his teammates would be returning next season? Certainly not Jason or Vinnie. Hell, Jeff and RJ might not even be on the team next year. Out all the people who might leave, he hated the idea that Jeff might not be here the most. They had been playing together since they won the IIHF Junior Championship and the thought of him not being on the team next year was just too painful to consider. They had shared so many good and bad times throughout the years. Winning the the Junior Championship in 2005; the Caldor Cup in 2006; surviving the season from hell last year; and winning and losing in the playoffs this year. Although they didn't make it to the finals, there were more good times this year than bad.

"Fuck," he muttered to himself, just to hear something. The silence on the bus was almost deafening. He wished someone, anyone, would say something. Any noise was better than the silence. Mike almost wished Marty would ramble on about something, anything, like he usually did on the road trips. But, that wasn’t going to happen tonight. Richie glanced over at the goalie. Even in the dark, Mike could see that Marty was devastated. It was so evident in his body language. The goalies shoulders were slumped and his eyes closed. As bad as he felt, Richie was sure tonight was harder on Marty. But, at least he has Danny. Mike watched the two of them for several moments. He tried in vain to look away from the two of them. Danny was whispering something obviously very private to the goalie. Whatever he said made Marty smile. Danny put his arm around the goalie and was rubbing his shoulder. Mike knew he should look away, watching them in such a private moment was just wrong, a violation. But, he couldn’t. Right now, Mike felt drawn to the moment they were have and felt compelled to watch.

Part of him envied whatever it was they had. Sure, he had a long list of girls, women, puckbunnies, and hell even guys that would kill to share his bed. But, it wasn’t the same as having someone who really cared about you, someone who knew exactly you were going through and could share the pain. What the fuck am I thinking? He asked himself, but he still couldn’t turn away. There was something else too. Watching them was almost turning him on. He wasn’t really aroused, at least not yet. He could feel the stirring of need starting to grow. If this is what losing the playoffs does, we better win the Cup next year.

Danny must have felt Mike's eyes on him. He looked up at his teammate and met his eyes . Danny didn’t change his position or move away from Marty but challenged Mike with his eyes. Richie liked that. The two men stared at each other for several moments, their eyes were locked in a smoldering gaze. It almost seemed like Danny was sending him an invitation or maybe it was a challenge.

“Danny? You okay?” Marty asked, his voice practically a whisper. The goalie opened his eyes and looked at his friend.

Danny finally looked away from Mike and nodded at Marty. “Yeah, I'm fine.”

Mike continued to stare at the two men. Damn, why couldn’t he look away? He knew he should stop staring before one of the other guys noticed but after everything that happened today he really didn’t care. If anyone asked him, he would probably throw a punch at him, no matter who it was. Richie really wasn’t in the mood for any questions.

“Richie, you okay?” Joffrey asked, watching Mike from the seat next to him.

Mike was finally forced to look away from Danny. “Yeah, just thinking.”

“You sure?”

Mike glared at his friend. “Yeah, I’m sure.” Mike was relieved that Joffrey had let it go. He really wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone tonight and didn’t want to fight Joffrey of all people. Damn, why is he watching me now? He could feel Danny’s eyes on him and it was bugging the hell out of him.

Richie finally turned his head and met Danny’s gaze again, both men challenging each other with their eyes. He wasn’t sure what kind of game Danny was playing now but he certainly wasn’t going to be the one to back down.
Mike watched Marty whisper something to Danny. His face broke into a huge grin and was that Marty’s hand on Danny's knee? What was it about those two? Fuck, it was happening again.

Again, he couldn’t look away.

Again, Danny with that fucking look.

Again with that just barely there feeling of need.

And that feeling? What the fuck was that about? The look, was it an invitation or a challenge? I don’t even want to know, he told himself but even as he thought it, Mike knew it was a lie.

The bus suddenly screeched to a halt, interrupting Mike's thoughts. They were at the Skate Zone and this strange nightmare of a day was almost over. “Finally,” he said to no one in particular.
