1. Flower
On Valentine’s Day, he showed up at my door with a rose and a giant chocolate kiss.
2. Summer
“Let’s go on vacation together,” I told Ryan.
“Where to?” he asked.
“Doesn’t matter, as long as we’re there and having fun together,” I grinned.
3. Shy
He was so quiet when I first met him in high school. Now he won’t shut up.
4. Jupiter
“I’d go to Jupiter and back for you,” I told Ryan as he erupted into tears.
5. Song
We were cleaning out our house and listening to the radio, when Ryan started dancing to his favorite song.
6. Home
They say home is where the heart is. But what happens when you’re sitting in your house in
7. Memories
I found Ryan sitting on our couch looking through a photo album of us, him remembering our past.
8. Photo
I found a picture of the two of us in high school and got it framed for Ryan on our anniversary.
9. Stars
My head was on his chest as we were lying in our backyard watching the dark sky brighten up with the moon and the stars.
10. Shadow
“Brooks,” my brother Andrew started. “I want to be as good as you playing hockey.”
“Thanks. And you will be,” I assured him.
“But I don’t want to live in your shadow my whole life.”
“Then make your own path. I’m here for you, you know that,” I told him, giving him a hug.
11. Soft
I swept my hand across his cheek, noting how smooth and soft it was.
12. Sunset
We stood on our porch, my arms around his waist, my chin resting on his shoulder, watching the sun set. Once the sun had sunk down below the buildings, he turned around and kissed me gently.
13. Surprise
“I hope you like it, Brooksie,” Ryan told me over the phone.
“I love everything you give me, Ry,” I responded before I heard giggling from the other end of the line, realizing what he was laughing about. “You know what I mean.”
“Just open it already!”
I started opening it up when I found a stuffed penguin. In its hands it was holding an envelope. I opened the envelope and found a plane ticket to
“I was hoping you’d like to come to
“I absolutely love it! Thank you so much, Ryan!” I sobbed into the phone.
14. Blue
“What did you do?” I asked Ryan when I walked into our house.
“I dyed my hair blue. What does it look like I did?” He asked me.
“Why?” I asked, running my hand through it.
“Because I wanted to,” he reasoned before kissing me.
15. Birthday
To celebrate his birthday, I made Ryan dinner, a chocolate cake, and made love like we never had done before.
“Best birthday ever,” he whispered before drifting off to sleep in my arms, a grin plastered to his face.
16. Goof
“You’re a goofball, Brooksie,” Ryan laughed.
“Says the person, who ran around the house with a bath towel tied around his neck,” I replied, laughing too at the memory.
17. Flame
“OUCH!” I nearly shrieked after I had gotten burned.
“I told you not to play near the fire,” Ryan laughed at me.
“It’s not funny,” I complained. He took my hand, and kissed my arm where I had burned myself.
18. Fantasy
I asked him what his fantasy was. He told me it was to have sex on the Penguin logo on the floor of our locker room. After the game was over and everyone had left, I made his fantasy come true.
19. Sadness
“Ryan,” I screamed when I saw the other player run into him and him fall to the ice. Hard. He wasn’t moving, and I had to blink back tears. When I saw the medics and trainers remove him from the ice on a stretcher, the tears started flowing down my cheeks and Coach let me leave the game early, since there wasn’t much time left and we were winning by three points.
20. Happiness
I get the best feeling in the world, when I wake up each morning with Ryan in my arms, because I know that I’m in love with my best friend, and that he loves me too.
21. Mystery
I used to think love was a mystery, until I fell into it.
22. Accident
I came home one day to a fire truck outside of our house and a very sheepish looking Ryan Whitney talking to a fireman.
“What happened,” I sighed walking over to them.
“The fire alarm went off when your oven over heated. We checked the house and everything is fine,” the officer informed me, Ryan turning bright pink.
We wandered in the house, Ryan trying to explain his version of what happened. “I put the chicken in the oven and I may have happened to set it to ‘clean’ instead of ‘bake’. It was an accident, I swear.” I just sighed.
23. Jump
I had always wanted to go parachuting. So I did, but Ryan insisted on coming, to be sure I didn’t kill myself. “Brooks, I really don’t think this is a good idea,” he whined for what seemed like the millionth time that day.
“Ryan, chill, okay. It’s going to be fine,” I said before I stood on the edge of the plane and jumped out.
24. Drop
I picked him up, bridal style, and walked to the edge of our backyard pool. When he saw what I was doing, he shouted, “Brooks, don’t you dare drop me!” I didn’t listen, and in he went, with a large spash.
25. Cookie
He was clearly enjoying his sugar cookie, because I had to reach across the table with a napkin to wipe off his icing covered face.
26. Hug
I distinctly remember him saying on our episode of ‘Inside Penguins Hockey’ that if he scored a goal, he was doing something awesome. So when he shot, and made a goal, I raced over to him and enveloped him in a hug before the rest of the team got there.
27. Believe
“I believe that everything happened for a reason,” I confessed to Ryan as we were cuddled together on our hammock.
28. Eyes
I remember the first time I told him I loved him. I looked him in the eyes, kissed him passionately, and said, “Ryan, I love you.” It was one of the happiest moments of my life.
29. Roller Coaster
As we neared the top of The Phantom’s Revenge, Ryan and I intertwined our hands, raised them above our heads, and screamed as the cable let go on the coaster, sending us flying.
30. Grace
We agreed on taking ballroom dancing lessons, just in case. Ryan danced pretty well, while I looked like I had two left feet. But according to Ryan, I was getting better.
31. Pudding
We were feeding each other pudding, when he decided it would be a good idea to “accidentally” miss my mouth. Our innocent pudding ‘date’ turned into a full on pudding fight.
32. Chocolate
One tub of body chocolate: $25. Two cans of Reddi-Whip: $5. A fun-filled night with my boyfriend: Priceless.
33. Dragon
We went back to visit my house. My room was still set up the way it used to be. Ryan walked in, and started laughing. “You like dragons?” He asked.
“I went through a stage,” I grumbled.
34. Agoraphobia (fear of open spaces)
Ryan told me a story of how his little brother was agoraphobic, and how he one day put him on the main deck of a cruise ship. Apparently his brother isn’t afraid of open spaces anymore, just afraid that Ryan will drop him into the ocean.
35. Fiancée
We were standing in the locker room when a teary-eyed Jordan Staal walked in. “We have an announcement to make,”
36. Vampire
On Halloween, Ryan and I dressed up as vampires for Max’s party. Before we left we had a little makeout session. We walked in the door and greeted everyone. Max came up to me and asked, “Geez, is that a hickie?”
“What? No!” I said, blushing. “It’s a…it’s a vampire bite!”
“Nice save,” Marc mocked, as Ryan kissed me gently.
37. Swimming
I was swimming laps in our pool, when I stopped moving. I turned around and saw Ryan holding on to my waist. “Can we please have more fun in here than just swimming laps?” He pleaded. That day we christened our pool, and made both of us happy.
38. Glide
I love watching Ryan ice skate. He moves so fluidly and every time I watch him, it makes me want to jump on him and fuck him right there on the ice.
39. Moose
“What’s the plural form of moose?” Ryan asked me one day.
“Moose,” I replied, not looking up from the book I was reading.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
“It should be meese,” he stated, making us both dissolve into giggles.
40. Tree
“Ryan, get down from there before you fall,” I called up.
“You sound like my mom. And I won’t fall,” he called back before I heard the rustling of leaves and my best friend falling out of the tree. I caught him in my arms and kissed him lightly on the lips before smirking at him. “You were saying…” I started.
41. Kayaking
We decided to go kayaking with the younger members of the team on the Three Rivers. We each got in our own kayak and no sooner do we get 20 feet from the rental shop, and Jordan, Sidney, and Ryan are all upside down, Max, Marc, Geno, and I laughing hysterically.
42. Penguin
I was standing on the ice after practice by myself, just to practice a few extra things. I shot a few pucks different ways, when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to find Iceburgh standing there. I chase him around, tackle him, and remove the head to find Ryan laughing. We were laying there when the door opened and Marc called out, “Get a room!” before leaving.
43. Rain
Ryan doesn’t seem to understand why I love running in the rain, but he’ll chase after me when I leave him on the porch.
44. Innocent
Being woken up at
45. Hide
I came home from practice early one day and hid being the bedroom door. Ryan walked in, calling for me, when I scared him.
46. Fall
I knew long ago that I would fall in love with Ryan Whitney, and when asked, I said it wasn’t possible for me to fall out of it as well.
47. Tie
I saw Ryan struggling with his tie, and went over to help him, laughing at the face he made when I was done.
48. Child
I sighed when I walked into the master bathroom, because I found Ryan sitting in the bathtub playing with a rubber duck. “What are you, three?” I asked, taking off my clothes and joining him.
“No, I’m at least four,” he pouted, setting the duck on the edge.
49. Lost
I found a bumper sticker for Ryan to put in his car. It reads: Of all the things I’ve lost, I miss my mind the most. He didn’t put it on his car, just in the window, but it’s still there for the public to see.
50. Love
I was laying on top of him, when he said, “Brooksie, make love to me.” I gave him everything I had, with all the love and passion I felt for him.

Reading Hug I definitely lol'd because I remember him saying that, and I was a little scared of what he would do. Again nice job!
