Sunlight flittered through the window on us, bronzing the lightly tan skin of the man next to me. Lifting my hand, I lightly brushed the dark brown hair that hung in his face. Memories flooded my mind as I recalled what happened last night, it was wonderful, just simply wonderful. Leaning in, I lightly kissed the tip of his nose, smiling as he squirmed a bit.
Looking over at the clock that sat on the nightstand just beyond him, I let out a low groan. It was almost 9:30. And I remembered we still had practice at 10:30 today, but I did not want to get up. All I wanted to do was stay here, and have my arms around my lover. Shifting slightly, I let out a sigh and knew I had to get up, tightening my arms around him. I kissed his cheek softly, and inhaled his sweet scent, almost like honey with a hit of ice to it.
“Ry,” I murmured into his ear, nuzzling his jaw line with the side of my face and my nose. “Time to get up.” A slight mumble came from those soft lips, as he slowly blinked open soft brown eyes. The low groan that came from the soft lips, as he nuzzled his face into my shoulder, arms tightening around my waist.
Hearing him mutter something like, “But I don’t want to….” he let out a deep sigh against my shoulder. Causing a shiver to go down my spine, running a hand through his hair. “Come on Ry, you have to get up, I’m pretty sure your team is wondering where you are.” I then said nipping his earlobe. Wondering if that would wake him up, and I could not help but laugh as he yelped slightly, pulling away from me.
The look on his face, made me smile, he tried giving me a glare but it did not work as the smile fought at his lips. Ryan then sighed, knowing that I was telling the truth, but the look in his eyes told me he did not want to leave. “Alright, fine….” He yawned. “… I’m up.” He then said, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand. Chuckling, I sat up myself, stretching my arms above my head.
I was stopped as I felt hands run up and down my chest, and then lips traveling just after them. Gripping the hands that now rested on my waist, I pushed Ryan back slightly, not hard enough to hurt him. But hard enough so that I could look at him in the eyes. “Not now, later.” I managed to say, giving him a smile. The pout that came to his lips, was just so cute, I could not help but give him a soft kiss. “Now get dress, I’ll take you back to your hotel.” I then said, “While I go to my practice.”
Hearing that soft groan from Ryan, I could not help but laugh a bit. But as I looked over at him, he was reluctantly getting dress, acting as if he was a kid who just lost his favorite toy. Following his example, well what I told him to do, I to got dressed in some clean clothes I found in my closet. “Zee, where’s my shirt?” Ryan asked from behind him, his breath grazing the skin just before I pulled my shirt on.
Thinking, I looked around room, also wondering where his shirt as gone. “If we can’t find it, then I guess you just have to wear one of mine.” I said, turning to him. The look on his face, nearly took my breath away, he looked so much happier now than he did earlier yesterday. It was a major improvement, and it warmed my heart know, that whatever demons he was dealing with on the inside. Were not holding him back any longer.
Sighing, I shook my head, ‘How the hell could he lose a shirt?’ I thought to myself, ‘It must have been like eaten or something.’ I spent like, a total of five minutes looking for the thing, until we both finally gave up. “How the hell did you lose it?” I asked watching him, as he sat down on the edge of my bed, shrugging his shoulders like it was nothing.
Turning to my closet, I shifted the shirts that were hanging there, looking for one that might fit him. Finding one, I pulled it out, tossing it to him I laughed. When Ryan had put it on, it seemed to drown half of his body, going down to about mid-thigh on him. “I’m going to have a hard time explaining this to my teammates.” Ryan said, trying so hard to hide that smile from me.
“That my love, your going to have to figure out on your own.” I told him, as I watched him. The shirt looked good at him, a smile crossed my face as I thought of what he would look, not wearing anything under it. I licked my lips, as I closed my eyes trying to savor the thought. “Zeeeeeeee” I heard him say, drawing out my name. “You said you had practice, and I think we better head out if you want to make it on time.”
I looked at the time quickly, it was about ten now, ‘How the hell did that much time go by?’ I thought to myself and then grabbed the key’s that sat on the floor. Grabbing the hand that was about to go through his hair, I pulled him out of the room and towards the front door, and out toward the car.
-------------------------------------------
The drive seemed a lot quicker than normal, one because we seemed to end up at the hotel that Ryan was staying at in like ten minutes flat. Even though it was really more like twenty minutes, I could not help but want him to stay longer. But he had to get back before his teammates start worrying about him, and before mine wonder if I’m showing up to practice today.
When we stopped, my fingers brushed the side of his cheek. And I leaned in, to plays a soft kiss against his lips, but as I leaned away he wrapped his arms around my neck to keep me in place. I could feel the mark that was now on his lip from last night, from him biting his own lip. But he kept telling me to not worry about it, he’ll be fine. Oh I sure hope he is.
As he pulled away, I let out a low groan, which made him chuckle. “If were still here, I’ll see you after practice, right?” He asked, giving me those eyes that seemed to make me take in a deep breath. “Yes, and if your not here, I’ll be sure find you in Buffalo when we come back. Or if you come back here, we can meet back in the locker room area.” I said, giving him one last kiss, before he opened his door and got out. Walking away, I could not help but watch him, a smile coming across my face.
Taking a deep, shaky breath, I pulled out onto the street. Hoping that I was able to calm down, before I got there. But there was always a chance that would not happen. Sighing, I headed towards the arena, keeping my eyes on the road ahead of me.
---------------------------------------
Even with the slight delay, I still managed to get here before most of my teammates. Hands in my pockets, I headed down the halls towards the locker room. Hearing the laughter and jokes that some of my teammates were saying, while over something on the radio. Shaking my head, I pushed open the door and walked in, giving a smile to who was there. Which was Milan, Tim, Marc, and Shawn. It was good to see Shawn back, it would bring spirits up a bit.
“Zee, there you are.” Shawn said, looking up at me as I walked by. “We thought you weren’t going to show up.” He had jumped up and stood on the bench slightly and wrapped an arm around my neck, and use his other hand to punch my shoulder slightly. “So what has our captain been up to?” He then asked, giving a smug smile. Causing a lave from Milan and Tim.
I rolled my eyes softly, and took his arm from around my neck and let it fall between us. “I don’t know what your talking about.” I said, shaking my head, and wave a hand to show that I meant it. But I did not go far, Shawn quickly grabbed my shoulders and stopped me. “Well then, what’s this?” He asked brushing his hand over something on my neck. Confused, I looked at him, like he was slightly insane at the moment.
When I gave him that look, he just laughed and beckoned for Milan to come over. Pulling away quickly, I brought a hand to my neck. “That’s enough, I don’t know what the hell your talking about.” I said quickly, my voice holding a slight edge to it. As I heard Shawn tell Milan something, and that set off the laughter. “Awww, come on Zee…” Milan started, a devilish grin on that face. “You going to tell us what her name is?”
I looked over at Tim, hoping that he might be able to tell me what was going on. He sighed and got up, and beckoned with his finger for me to follow him. “Where you going Zee? We just want a name.” Milan called after me as I walked away, the laughter still in his voice. I just wanted to wipe that smirk off his and Shawn’s face. But not right now, I’ll make their practice hell if they keep this up.
“Why don’t you look at your neck in this.” Tim said, as I caught up with him, he pointed to a mirror that was hanging on the one side of the room. I had never notice it there before, well then again, I don’t think anyone noticed it there before, well besides Tim. Looking into it, I turned my head to the one side, and now I could see the red mark that was there, with slight little indents from Ryan’s teeth where he bit my neck. “Sviniť” I muttered more to myself than to anyone else.
I could see the smile that crossed Tim’s face, and I scowled at him slightly. Shaking my head, as I rubbed the mark on my neck. ‘How did I not notice it?’ I thought to myself, thinking back to the night before. “So….. I’m guessing that was not done but a girl.” Tim said leaning against the wall, as I still inspected my neck. Ignoring him, I shook my head and looked out towards Shawn, Milan, and Marc. Shawn and Milan were still cracking jokes, while Marc sat there and laughed.
I went to walk away, but Tim gripped my arm and stopped me. “Zee, what did happen last night?” He asked, looking up towards me raising one eyebrow. Looking at him, I shook my head, pulling my arm out of his grasp. “Do I really have to answer that?” I asked, not giving him the answer he wanted.
The look on his face, made me think I should tell him what is going on, but I could not do it. “Let’s just get ready for practice.” I said, heading towards my locker again, ignoring the jives from Shawn and Milan. While at the same time, ignoring the questions about the mark on my neck.
------------
Practice, was slightly better…….. No it was awful, Shawn and Milan still kept trying to pry at what I did. And it was getting annoying, I could not take it anymore, yeah I would never hurt them. But I’ll draw a line, once someone tries to pry into my life, when I don’t want them to. I would watch the two every now and then, making sure they did not get all too close right now.
But their jives just kept coming, even though I had managed to get away from them. Watching them out of the corner of my eye, I moved the puck at my feet side to side with my stick. Wondering just what I could do, to get them to knock it off. The smile that had come to my face, I turned to wait until they were not looking. Not paying attention to them, I focused on the boards just behind them.
Looking up once, I smiled as their attention wavered to something else. Looking back down at the puck, I brought my stick back. And as hard as I could, I slapped the puck, to the right of Milan’s legs. Hearing it slam against the boards loudly, I turned and brought the blade of my stick up and tucked it under my chin. Smiling as I heard, both of them yelp slightly out of fear.
As I looked over my shoulder, they were looking around for who did it, and without luck. They had both turned to see the dent that was left in the board, where the puck had hit. I could not help but laugh to myself as I watched them, their bewilder looks were just priceless as they tried to find out who sent the puck at them.
“Zee, that was not very nice.” I heard Tim, say skating by me as he headed towards the one net. “Well then they should mind their own business.” I said, looking down at Tim could not help but laugh a bit. “Well then…” He started, leaning on his goalie stick slightly. “The captain should not come to practice, with a hickey on his neck.”
Gapping at him, I wanted to say something about that. But every time I went to say something, I would then think of who else would be listening right now. Muttering a few things to myself, I looked away. Shifting on my skates. This day just could not get any worse, I just hoped that Ryan was having a lot better of a day than I was.
