Summary: Marty and Brenden talk about their fears that they have about Brenden's rehab.
Author's Notes: This is a week after Morrow has surgery on his knee and the Avery
problem. It also a day before the Wings game and 2 hours after the interview with Bad Radio. This is my fic relating to the horrible start that the Dallas Stars during the 2008-09 season. This is also part of the Marty Turco and Brenden Morrow series
Marty can't stand when he sees his lover, Brenden, in pain. He wishes he could take the pain from Brenden. He wants to be strong and wants Brenden to relax, but he first needs to know why Brenden was frustrated and wanted to know why Brenden was acting strangely.
He walks into their bedroom after a long day at practice with the team and sees Brenden with ice packs on his right knee. He walks over and sits beside him.
"I wish I can take this pain away from the one guy I care about so much."
“Marty, I want to play. I want this fucking rehab to go away. I don't want to be injured. It's my fucking fault that I didn't move out of the way. I can't deal with this pain anymore," Brenden whispered, tearfully.
“Brenden, please stop blaming yourself. Please don’t quit this rehab. You are stronger than you know it. I know it’s hard but I need my lover beside me.”
"I know, Marty, but I am scared. What if I am not that guy you first fell in love with? What if you leave me? I am afraid I won't be the same player. The leader who leads this team into the playoffs…"
"Hey don't be scared, babe. I am going to be with you no matter what happens. I love you for who you are, and I am going to push you every day with this rehab until you get better. I am not going to leave you. We are partners for life, Brenden. I do not want you to be scared about that. Don’t let that fear get in the way and rehab so that you can help us in the playoffs," Marty said, as he runs his fingers through Brenden's dark brown hair with one hand while stroking Brenden's back with the other. Placing a soft kiss on his lover's forehead, he settled down, as he rested his head against the pillow. Brenden snuggled even closer to Marty, trying to get warm in the cold night.
