disclaimer: The numbers don't lie. But they also don't write fanfic.
truth: Ty has had both good luck and bad with #29, but despite abandoning it before, he's wearing it for the Wings this year.
He's leaving #35 in Pittsburgh.
notes: That being said, this takes place during the past season.
"And you're not even English Canadian. Maybe we needed another American goalie around here? Mr. 35?" Marc tapped Ty's chest and mouthed the syllables, "TOM-BA-RRA-SSO", grinning down at him.
"You said you weren't going to make fun of that. Do I make fun of you for Patrick Roy? Why don't you make fun of me for watching Brodeur?"
"You didn't take his number."
"Dany had 30! I had 35 in Buffalo! And Syracuse! And Columbus!"
"Jocelyn's not wearing 41 in Buffalo. You could've picked something different."
"Maybe it's like getting involved with you! I didn't know what I was doing."
"You knew what you were doing....Barrasso came from Buffalo too, non?"
"You don't WANT me to be Tom Barrasso."
"Why?"
"Among the extensive list of reasons, in Buffalo...they used to call him 'Brass Asshole'. Think about that one...Or you can laugh at me."
"I'll stop in a minute....Really."
"One of these days I'm just going to go back to being eight years old and you will not. be. there."
"You don't want me not to be there."
"Why not?"
"Then who will backup you?"
"Maybe someone quiet."
"I can be quiet."
"Maybe if you're asleep."
"That's Marty Biron."
"You're not doing much to distinguish yourself."
"Bonne nuit, T--y."
"Goodnight, Kenny."

*Ken Wregget split the net in Pittsburgh with Barrasso for many, many a year.
*Ken Dryden was a pretty fucking good goalie for Montreal. Who retired his #29.
- Not only have there been no American goalies in Pittsburgh since Tommy, EVERY goalie the Pens have had since drafting MAF has been French.
- Ty is the first since (and may be the only one other than) Barrasso to play in goal for the Pens AND
- the only one to wear #35.
