Summary:
It is dangerous to hunt Demons, but someone has to do it – it is the Wizards that protect people from the things that go bump in the night.
Author’s Notes: We wanted to write something together again, and we didn't want to decide between RPS and FPS, so we just did both.
Pavel quietly closed the door behind himself and, with a quick brush of his stick, activated the protective spells around the property. He didn't want to get surprised, especially tonight. Dealing with an injured Chris had left him tired; exhausted even, and with his energy levels almost dangerously low.
"Hey," Hank greeted, pulling Pavel into his arms. He let the wizard lean against him, soaking in his warmth as he asked, "How did everything go?"
Pavel hummed and took a deep breath, smelling the soothing familiarity of Hank. "Not good," he replied after a moment, "but he be fine."
"And you?" Hank asked him.
Pavel smiled and reached up to trace his fingertips over Hank's beard. "I fine," he promised before tangling his hand in the long hair at the back of Hank's neck. "Tired."
Hank shifted until he could kiss Pavel softly. "Then let's go to bed," he said, moving them toward the bedroom. "Things will look better in the morning."
Pavel nodded, but he didn't let go of his stick until they were in the bedroom and he could lean it against the wall, within easy reach.
"All of the wards up are up around the house," Hank told him. "You can relax."
Pavel smiled and gently pushed Hank onto the bed. "Help me relax?" he asked softly before stretching out on top of him and kissing him deeply.
Hank let his tongue move lazily against Pavel's as he scratched his nails lightly over his back. "Pav," he murmured.
"Hank," Pavel whispered back and tugged impatiently at Hank's shirt. "I want you."
Hank helped him get his shirt off before pushing his own pants down, recognizing the need in Pavel. "Take me," he said easily.
"Hank," Pavel murmured and tugged on Hank's shoulder until he rolled over, on his stomach. With his tongue, he traced symbols and runes down Hank's back until he reached his ass.
Hank felt the shudder of desire run down his back. "Pav," he whispered back.
Pavel crawled up and dropped a kiss to the back of his neck while reaching for the bottle of lube he knew was in the top drawer of the bedside table. His fingers closed around the smooth object with no hesitation and without touching the amulet that rested next to it. Touching it without whispering the correct spell would activate even stronger wards around their bedroom, and he didn't think he needed those right now.
He smiled as he dropped another kiss to Hank's shoulder. "Love you," he whispered and sat up to take off his own clothes. "Spread legs for me?"
Hank did as ordered, responding eagerly to his touch. He knew that, while Pavel truly enjoyed sex with him, sometimes it was also one of the duties he'd taken on with his wizard. It just happened to be one that he thoroughly enjoyed.
Pavel nibbled gently on his shoulder while his hands ran down Hank's back again.
"Pav," he moaned, pushing back against his hands just enough to encourage him.
"I here," Pavel said soothingly and opened the bottle of lube to coat his fingers. He knew that he didn't have the patience to go very slow, so he made sure to stretch the man underneath him carefully.
He didn't want to hurt Hank.
Even after a bad night like this, he would never hurt Hank. He was much too important.
"Good?" he asked as he pulled his fingers free and moved to kneel between Hank's legs. The question was redundant - he could see Hank's energy lines, his karma, clearly, and he knew that Hank would start to get impatient for more than just his fingers soon. He still asked it.
Hank smiled at him over his shoulder. "Perfect," he promised and impatiently lifted his hips toward Pavel. "Please?"
Pavel reached for the lube, his hand bypassing the oil that had been infused for safety, and spread it liberally over his dick. "More," he agreed, pushing in with one smooth motion.
Hank buried his head in the pillow to muffle his moan at the sensations of being stretched wide.
Pavel tapped the side of his hip. "I want to hear."
Hank turned his head to the side and took a deep breath. "Pav," he moaned. "Stop teasing. Please."
"Not teasing," Pavel told him. He gripped Hank's hips and started a harder, faster pace. "Need you. Need you, Hank."
Hank's breath hitched as he moved to meet Pavel thrust for thrust. "Have me," he panted, his fingers curled into tight fists against the sheets. "My Pav."
"Hank," he moaned, his voice filled with need. He slammed in hard, the sound of his balls hitting Hank loud in the room as his pulse pounded in his ears.
Focusing on the magic running through his body and channeling it through Hank was instinctive. He didn't even realize he initiated the process until they were connected on the most basic levels.
He could feel Hank's desire, lust and love through their connection as it added to his. "Hank," he whispered.
In moments like this, Hank could see what he saw, could feel what he felt, and experience everything Pavel experienced. They were, for a moment, one mind in two bodies.
There was absolutely nothing like it and nothing could reenergize him they way that this could.
"Pasha," Hank moaned and pushed his hips back, wordlessly urging him on for more.
Pavel leaned forward, licking across the back of Hank's neck before biting down, teasing the skin until he was sure that his mark was there.
More.
Definitely more.
Hank buckled under him with a bitten-off moan. His orgasm triggered the energy lines around both of them to flare up brightly, and when Pavel followed him only a few heartbeats later, coming deep in his lovers' body, not only did they see fireworks, but the bedside lamp flickered out as the light bulb blew out.
He fell forward, catching himself with his hands before he could land too heavily on Hank. Taking a few seconds to get himself under control, he listened to Hank's heavy breathing. "I love you," he said once before carefully pulling out of him and moving to lie next to his lover.
Hank rolled around and rested his head against Pavel's shoulder. His beard scratched slightly over Pav's chest as he moved.
"We really need some candles in here," he murmured after a while.
Pavel looked around, the magic in him and throughout the room allowing him to see everything clearly. "We'll get them tomorrow," he told Hank.
Hank laughed and sat up.
"You said that the last time," he pointed out as he stood to go to the bathroom. He didn't need light at this moment either, Pavel knew - they still were connected, and Hank could see as well as he could. It would fade fast, but for the next half an hour or so, the two of them would still be connected more than usual.
"I'll remember this time," he insisted.
Hank only laughed. A moment later, he returned with a new light bulb and a warm, wet washcloth.
"What would I do without you?" Hank asked, letting his love for the man curl around them almost tangibly.
Pavel shrugged and cleaned himself up as good as possible before standing to pull Hank into his arms again. He didn't need words to let the other man know how much he meant to him.
He'd never needed words with Hank.
"Want to tell me about it?" Hank murmured into his hair. "Or take a shower with me?"
"Take a shower," he decided. He still wasn't ready to talk about what had happened yet.
"Okay," Hank said softly and ran his hands gently down Pavel's back. "You want me to carry you to the bathroom, or can you make it on your own?" he then asked.
"I can make it," Pavel told him. He felt better, but he knew he wouldn’t truly feel better until he'd slept. After the shower.
Hank nodded, but he still kept an arm around the tired wizard.
Pavel leaned into him. He was lucky to have Hank.
"You should eat something before falling asleep," Hank murmured and brushed the fingers of his free hand through Pavel's hair. "It'll make you feel better tomorrow morning."
"Maybe," Pavel said. "After the shower."
Hank nodded and bit back a curse when Pavel's legs buckled, suddenly leaving him with the task of holding up both of them.
"Whatever you did today, it was big," he grunted as he pulled Pavel the few steps to the bathroom. "Maybe taking a bath would be better."
"Maybe," he agreed, exhaustion pulling at him hard enough to make spots dance in front of his eyes.
Hank thought for a moment. He could, theoretically, let Pavel soak in the tub for a bit, but he didn't know if he could lift him up should the wizard fall asleep. He didn't trust his back to play along with that - the last time, he'd been out of the lineup for a while just because he'd lifted his laundry, and Pavel weighted a bit more than that. Besides, he didn't want to drop him.
"What am I going to do with you," he muttered before sighing and coming to a decision.
"Love me," Pavel answered. "That all I've ever needed you to do."
"Here's something I need you to do," Hank replied and brushed a gentle kiss against the sharp edge of Pavel's cheekbone. "Don't fall asleep - I don't know if I can lift you up, okay?"
"I try," Pavel replied with a smile, his accent thicker with fatigue. "That everything?"
"For now," Hank grinned and gently lowered the other man into the tub. "I might come up with something else later."
"I try anything for you," Pavel said, forcing his eyes wide, but he knew that staying awake was going to be hard.
"I know you do," Hank smiled and ran a washcloth over Pavel's chest. "It's what makes you so special."
Pavel murmured non-committally, focusing on staying awake.
Hank quickly cleaned him up before shaking his shoulder gently. "Can you get up? For me?" he asked, and Pavel nodded slowly, his eyes half-closed.
Hank managed to half drag, half guide the other man out of the tub and wrap him in fluffy towels.
Pavel kept his eyes closed for a few seconds, gathering his energy before opening them and smiling at Hank. "I good now, I can get to the bed," he promised.
Hank hesitated briefly. "No food?" he finally asked.
Pavel thought about it for a moment, but the exhaustion won the battle as his knees buckled and he almost fell.
"I think bed better," he murmured. "Eat more in the morning."
"Okay," Hank agreed easily, catching Pavel and leading him to the bedroom. He pulled the blankets back before pulling them up over Pavel. "Sleep, my wizard."
"Hank," Pavel murmured into his pillow fuzzily.
Hank bent down to kiss his temple softly. "Don't worry, I'll be with you in a second," he promised. "Let me just clean up the bathroom and kitchen."
Pavel gave an almost unperceivable nod, and Hank quietly left the bedroom.
He needed to check himself that all doors and windows were closed and that they were safe, especially with Pavel in such a weakened state - he felt a wave of anxiety about Kris and Chris rush through his body, but he quickly pushed away the urge to call Kris. He would be busy, or too worried to make small talk with Hank, anyways.
They had known that wizards had a dangerous life from the second they agreed to live with them, Hank knew. Every year, there was a high number of them dying while doing their job, hunting demons and sending them back to where they came from. Hank was a bit fuzzy on where exactly that was, but it never seemed to be any problem for the wizards he knew.
Sighing, he made sure the house was secure one more time before going back to the bedroom.
He would hold Pavel while he slept and healed and hoped to get the answers he wanted in the morning.

A quiet noise behind him made Steve whirl around, not caring for his protesting knee, and point his stick threateningly at the intruder of his home. Part of his mind reminded him that the wards and charms he'd put up before leaving earlier, after getting the call that Chris was in trouble, had never been broken, which meant that only someone he trusted could have entered his house.
"Whoa," Brendan said quietly and lifted his hands. "Bad time for a visit?"
Steve slumped, trying hard to stay on his feet. "Long night."
“I can see that," Bren pointed out. "Your hands are shaking."
Steve frowned fuzzily at his hands. "I hadn't realized."
"Yeah," Bren said and easily caught him as he stumbled. "I noticed that."
"Everyone's going to be okay," Steve said, leaning heavily against Brendan. He wasn't sure if he was telling his lover or trying to convince himself of that statement. "Chris scared us, but he's going to be fine."
"Do I want to know?" Brendan asked and easily lifted Steve up. "I just wanted to drop in and have a nice dinner with you," he jokingly complained as he carried him to the living room and put him down on the couch. "Do you need anything?"
"Water," he decided, trying to think of what was in his kitchen. "Something easy and light for dinner?"
"Will you be able to stay awake that long?" Bren asked and smoothed his hand over Steve's hair. "I'm not going to cook if you, again, just fall asleep at the table, you know."
Steve chuckled slightly. "That only happened once, and it was almost ten years ago," he replied.
"Your point?"
"Cereal," Steve said. "That's quick. No cooking involved."
"Uh-huh," Brendan said and, with the experience of years, slipped off Steve's shoes. "But if you fall asleep with your head in cereal, you can drown in the milk."
"Okay," Steve said, leaning back until he was lying across the couch. He sighed happily. Maybe food could wait until later.
"If you take a nap now, you won't wake up until tomorrow morning, by which point you will be stiff and feel like hell," Brendan called out from the kitchen.
"I'll bribe you for a massage then," Steve called back to him.
Brendan stuck his head back into the room. "Bribe me? How do you plan on doing that?" he asked.
"Don't know. I'll figure it out in the morning," Steve mumbled.
Bren chuckled. "Okay," he said gently. "Come on, your delicious dinner is ready."
Steve sat up with a smile. Ten minutes and he'd be in bed, he decided.
Preferably with Brendan wrapped all around him.
And in the morning he'd be in Brendan.
"What are you grinning about?" Brendan asked and pushed a bowl with hot soup toward him. "Here, eat. You look like you need it."
"I do," Steve agreed, taking a large spoonful. "Thank you for being here."
Brendan shrugged and busied himself with cleaning up the kitchen a little while Steve ate in silence. It was comfortable and familiar, and Steve felt how the tension slowly left him, leaving him only with a bone-deep exhaustion.
"Bed, my wizard," Brendan said softly, taking Steve's bowl from him. "I'll help you up there."
He'd been with Steve for long enough to know the signs, and he knew that he better be careful to prevent Steve from stumbling and hurting his knee again. Keeping an arm on the wizard's elbow, he slowly guided him through the house.
Keeping a hand on him also had the advantage that he didn't need to tell Steve how he felt at the moment, he thought while concentrating on his feelings for the other man. Steve could feel what he was feeling right now anyways.
Moving slowly but deliberately he soon had Steve undressed and in bed. "It's safe now," he told him softly. "Relax and sleep."
"Will you stay here?" Steve asked and reached out to grab Bren's hand. "With me?"
"Of course I will," Brendan told him. Nothing was going to take him from Steve's side when the wizard was this exhausted.
He'd done that only once, and they both still had the scars from that night.
The scars, and the nightmares.
Never again would he let that happen.
He quickly took off his own clothes and slipped under the blankets. Almost immediately, he found himself with a wizard wrapped tightly around him.
"I love you Stevie," Brendan whispered.
"I love you too," Steve answered and kissed the chest under his head. "Tomorrow, okay?"
"Tomorrow," he agreed.
He let Steve's even breathing soothe him into sleep, knowing perfectly well that they both needed it.
Tomorrow he'd get the story of what had happened.
And really good sex.
