title: Fusillade (Épisode 1)
involves: Kris Letang(!), Marc-André Fleury/Ty Conklin
rating: PG-15 (for immaturity?)
warning: Not Fleury friendly.Kris is not very mature.
disclaimer: Kris was really, really, really not happy with the standard rookie hazing this year, and Marc-André is notorious for instigating mischief and havoc whether you're a rookie or not. Kris and Ty started the year together in the AHL at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. However, I'm still not claiming this story is true!
notes: "Fusillade" is the French for "shootout". This is being posted due to upcoming July 1UFA agony, and will be continued, but likely not for a bit, due to the same date.
summary: Kris Letang is not a happy rookie.
"T'es jaloux."
"Ta gueule."
"Admit it, you're jealous."
"And I told you to shove it."
"Then please tell me why you're standing there and staring at them talking?...So, you're jealous."
"Dany, shut up. And what if I am? How do you stand it?"
"I don't stand there and stare at them when I leave them alone?" Sabou looked at me like he was trying to get a point across. "I like both of them, for one thing."
I want...somebody to make me feel safe. Calm. I want to be with somebody who makes me feel better about myself -- who makes me believe things will be okay.
Does Marc-André Fleury ALWAYS have to be so close to him? For what? What the hell does he need to feel better about?
Fucking Marc-André. That's what Ty's doing, isn't it?
Fucking Marc-André Fleury. Is there anybody he's not comfortable around? He never gets embarrassed, never worries about looking stupid, never worries about doing the wrong thing; no, just smile and off you go, bon vivant; bonne chance. He's one of the people who can decide when they want to have fun...which usually involves being an idiot, because he thinks it's a joke when people get mad.
Sure, getting people pissed off is just hysterical. So funny I wish I could stop remembering things he did this year.
Enfant terrible. Sans souci.
And Max Talbot is exactly the same. Except Max isn't I-don't-know-what with Ty Conklin 90% of the time.
Maybe the 10% was when we were in Wilkes-Barre and he was up here in Pittsburgh sucking and making people wonder if he'd ever be worth that #1 overall pick. Michel said he was "fragile". Now that was funny. Mostly that anyone believed it.
And a lot of people did!
By the time I came up things were starting to get better; he had another shutout, actually won some games in a row. We went out West. I was happy for him until we got to Edmonton and there was salt in my bed.
He got hurt in Calgary, I made a debut in the shootout, and Dany needed a backup.
And so Ty came because of Marc-André Fleury.
Of course he did.
~
It's not that I wish he were fucking me instead. I just wish I could have fifteen minutes, half an hour, a conversation with him in the same building as Marc-André Fleury and not inevitably have the enculade turn up. Ty'll be listening to me, but in front of that guy there's a lot I don't want to say.
And...I guess I just always feel like he'd rather be with Marc--no, with "Flower," that's what he always calls him, "Hey, Flower" -- with Fleury than with me. They're always talking. And smiling. And laughing. And I'm not the one Ty's reassuring before the game starts. And I hate it.
Can't he just break his other ankle and get the hell out of everybody's way again?
It wouldn't make a difference. He'd just be smiling with a cast on and Ty would still be looking for him.
Crisse.

Notes!: I'm not translating Tanger's swearing, sorry. ;) But I *did* find this handy VERY NSFW page for an interesting guide to the minds of all our foul-mouthed beloved Quebecois boys. Warning: any application of this should be with extreme caution. (Go easy, and remember you still probably don't know what context you're using it in.)
"bon vivant" - someone who really enjoys life, someone who lives well
"bonne chance" - 'good luck'
"enfant terrible" - what it sounds like. immature, or at least causing trouble, and proud of it.
"sans souci" - 'without worry', "carefree".
If you want to leave a comment, and you haven't done it for the other stuff I've posted most recently, go do that! (/shameless comment whoring) :D
