Title: Brotherly Bonds--On and Off the Ice
Characters: Jordan Staal and Marc Staal
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: This is a fictional story.  None of the events occurred to my knowledge, except for the Pens beating the Rangers.
A/N: Jordan's POV

After we won game 5 against Marc’s team, I knew we would get together to talk.  He knocked on my door, and I went to answer it, giving him a hug.  We both knew that one of us would go on, and one of us wouldn’t.  I knew I wasn’t going to say anything about the game, unless he brought it up first.  Tonight was about comforting, and talking, since we didn’t talk at all during the series.

I pulled him upstairs into my room, put in a movie, and we got comfortable on my bed.  We had already talked to our parents and brothers, now it was our time to catch up.

We were quiet for a while, until Marc spoke up.  “Great game, Jord,” he smiled, ruffling my hair.

“We don’t have to talk about this, you know,” I whispered.

“I know.  I’m just saying you played well.  My game was a little off today.”

“Hey, you were great.  Don’t put yourself down like that!” I told him.

“I’m just stating the truth,” he mumbled, a tear slipping down his cheek.

I gave him a gentle kiss, and wiped the tears from his eyes.  “Come on, let’s not talk about the game,” I tried to change the subject.  He shook his head and snuggled closer to me.

“Sorry about the hit,” he apologized.  “Both of them.”

“It’s okay.  I’m fine,” I assured him.  I remembered when we lost to Ottawa in the first round last year, so I can imagine how he was feeling.  He always comforted me after tough losses, and now it was my turn.  I sighed, “Marc, come on, stop thinking about the game.”

He curled up closer to me, and I wrapped my arms around him.  I kissed his cheek and ran one hand through his hair, signaling that I was there for him.  We didn’t talk much, but watched a few movies before falling asleep.
