So, tonight I didn't watch the Pens, but had promised a friend that I'd watch him preform in Footloose at the local theater. I went, and damn if the music wasn't some of the best...and I was singing the song "I'm Free" - which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Regardless, as I came home singing it, I was informed of the unfortunate loss of the Pens. The combination of the song and it's lyrics and concept in my head and images of the Pens started flashing through my head to it...and it all worked!

The end result is this: I wrote a 487-word ficlet, featuring Sid and Colby, centered around the lyrics (which are in italics) to the song. x-posted to i_wanna_puck

The irony? I really don't like Sid at all...and I just wrote a ficlet centered around him! Oh jeez! Well, here goes. Enjoy!
