I'm gonna get old, and bitter, and it'll be hilarious...

100-word drabble. Posted some time back at [livejournal.com profile] shortandhard, so I apologize if you're, uh...seeing it twice. :)

title: Second Sight
involves: Ron Francis (newest member of the coaching staff on the left. the one who's not Paul Maurice)/Tom Barrasso (head goalie overlord, 'Canes organization, circa 1983 )
rating: PG
disclaimer: Coach Franchise may know whether this is true, because I DON'T.
summary: Tommy's smile is older. That's why it predeceased him.

He had such a beautiful, illuminating smile, but it was a casualty of everything that happened. Eroded, if wind were pain and rain was anger and time was stress -- and time was stress.

He thinks it's lost to history, and he never believes I can see it, but I can. Even today, in my mind's eye, I can.

"I see it. I do. I see it," I tell him, with his head pressed in between my hands.
And sometimes, when I kiss him, when neither of us is able to see at all...

I can feel it.
