I read an interesting article a few weeks ago where Fedor was interviewed. He was saying something that Phil Esposito says all the time and that is that the NHL is moving toward a "haves and have nots" model. That is, a league in which there are extremely highly paid superstars and then the rest of the players are interchangable cogs who are at, or just above, the minimum. Fedor was saying there is no place for him in the NHL anymore because he can make more in Russia and, in the NHL, they just want to pay him the minimum and give him a two-way contract. I think he's partly right. But it seems to me that he does expect things to come his way simply because of who he is. And I think he's gotten more chances than some because of who he is.

I'll grant you, I could be completely wrong in my assessment of his character and personality, but he always comes across as a bit whiny and not willing to work as hard as he would have to in order to achieve success in the NHL.
