The person I know, I came to know after she joined LJ to read my fics. She happens to be friends with 2 of the guys I write about...initially she didn't tell them where she found the stories but did after we talked. I was okay with it because they were so open minded about it. And yes, it surprised me to find out how open minded. One of their less popular teammates wanted to know why no one wrote him...so I ended up writing him.
I've written a few baseball slash fics and I probably would want to hide if those guys read my fics. I just have a feeling baseball players wouldn't be open to it as (some) hockey players. I think the influence of international players creates a a more accepting atmosphere than you find in other North American sports (baseball, American football, basketball). Either that or hockey players are just way more perverted than other athletes. :-)
I think the members only posting by default is okay and that's how I have my personal LJ set up. One question I did have is how would this affect all current fics. Would they all by members only? Or would this only affect future fics posted?
