I write the stuff, I read the stuff, but if you think for a second I'd want the subjects of these stories to read them, you'd be wrong.

Originally I felt like this too. Until I found out that a few of the subjects (NHL players) are reading my fics and at least one of the players enjoys them. They didn't find them through google or any other search engine. A friend of theirs (who I know) told them about the fics. I was freaked out about it for 30 seconds but then I loved the idea. The one player who reads my fic was "intrigued" by my stories and asks his friend when I'm going to update. ;-) I do think he's the exception. A few of the other players that know about it (but haven't read them) are just amused.

The only bad thing about locking the posts are that I've had a few people join LJ just to read my fics or LJ message me. When all the stuff on the baseball communities was going on, I locked my fics on this community. I got a message asking why they were disappearing. Some people outside of LJ don't understand how it works. I hate the idea of someone not being able to read because they're not familiar with LJ. I ended up unlocking all my fics again. I think if they must be locked, I vote for option of the author being able to unlock the post.
